New Year Resolutions

Well I am not usually one to make New Years resolutions, but this year is a little different for me. These aren't some crazy goals like losing 30 pounds or climbing Mt. Everest that I know I won't keep. They are simple goals that will help me to feel better and be better. Self improvements I would say.

BE A BETTER WIFE AND MOTHER: This can be so many different things to many people. To me it's about being more in the moment. Like many women my mind is in a million places at once. I need to slow down and really be in the moment with my family. This also includes regular date nights with the hubby. Our relationship is the most important and needs special time to itself.

BECOME CLOSER TO HEAVENLY FATHER: Sounds simple enough I know, but life can push this on the back burner if we let it. Improving my daily prayers, scripture reading, Temple attendance and church activities will help me to do this.

MORE CHARITY: Time isn't something that I always have a lot of to give, but I need to find some somehow. I want to be able to do more service for those in need. Maybe it's just a small thing like babysitting for a friend in need or giving someone a lift to the store, but service is important and is great to teach our kids.

GET HEALTHY: Notice I didn't say "lose weight." Yes, I do want to do that to, but I'm not setting some crazy gaol for myself and then get stressed out over it. I want to feel good in general and sometimes that's more than just losing weight.

IMPROVE MY BUSINESS: This is so many things to me. The most important is to improve my skills. I still have so much to learn and love that I do. I think that you always have to be learning to improve upon something. I would love to increase my client volume as well. A few shoots a month is perfect for me right now. My family is my first priority and I need to soak up the kids while they are still young and home with me.

BE MORE POSITIVE: Sounds easy right, but quite the opposite. I think that it's easier for most people to be negative and more work is needed to be positive. Life is always going to throw situations our way, but it's how we handle those situations that are important. I want to be a happy person, so I will choose to be!

For some reason a new year and the sound of a clean slate is so fun, but really it's just a new day. So everyday can be a clean slate if we choose it to be. So I will do my best at my personal goals and I know that if I slip a bit I can just start again the next day.

HAPPY 2010...HERE'S TO A GREAT YEAR AND DECADE!!!
