our Memorial weekend

We decided to head up the coast this past weekend to La Selva beach/Monterey. We have been wanting to for a while and with a three day weekend it was the perfect time. We visited with Grandma Carole, played in the sand, ate too much, went to the aquarium/Cannery Row and just enjoyed the view (really). We even were able to attend the affirmation of Dustin's cousin Tana's little boy Prescott. We didn't get to stay long though because Chloe actually got sick on the trip and didn't want to sit through the service. The trip was great! The weather was a little cooler than we expected at times, but still beautiful. You won't hear us complain about the cool when we have the summers that we do here at home. :) Christian then got sick on the way home and is still recovering, but at least he got to enjoy the trip. It was a great little get away and we loved it!

We stopped to see the Elephant seals on the way up the coast. This guy had us laughing SO hard that we had to take a picture of him. Poor guy would stand up and click away at every turn and his driver just wouldn't stop. The Monterey Bay AquariumEven on vacation I don't get a break. :)Christian loved the Star fish.We had some fun on Cannery Row.
Christian enjoyed some NOT so hot chocolate.Dustin enjoyed a yummy crepe. And Christian enjoyed the train cars that we found. We hit the beach.Christian was SO excited to make his first sand castle. He talked about it the entire way there. :)Chloe was not so much a fan of the beach. It was cold and windy though so I can't really blame her.We had fun visiting with Grandma Carole. All tuckered out!We came home to an already made meal for us to eat. Lasagna, bread, salad and fresh baked brownies. Our friend who was house/dog sitting for us and her mom left us a great surprise. Thanks Boyd family!!

New Moon ...OMGoodness

So as you may have heard they are going to be debuting the New Moon movie trailer on the MTV awards. So I was surfing the web and found two trailers that left me with my mouth open. Now they are not the official ones, but I really didn't care and you probably won't either. Can I just say that I think Jacob will be giving Edward a run for his money in the hotness dept (still team Edward though)and that I wish I could go to bed and wake up in November. Yes, it looked that good!! So check it out...

going private

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to let you know that our blog is going to be going private at the end of the month. I just feel like this is the best thing right now. The photography blog will of course remain public as always. If you want to continue to view our family blog after it goes private then just let me know. Make sure I have your e-mail address. And even if I don't know you all that well and you want to continue to view it, don't be afraid to ask. :) Thanks!!

Thank you!!

I just want to say a BIG "thank you" to all who have left me such nice comments, words, calls and concern the past couple weeks about my entries made about my mom. I really appreciate it and love you guys. I have such great friends and family! Please know that I really am fine and usually am.

Something just got stirred up in me and that was all. Sometimes when you need that reassurance in something or help with decisions that you might be facing, well...you just want your mom and that is where I was at that time. :) Nothing to worry about...really. I have a great family, life and friends and am very blessed and I know it. I also know that everything, although may be very sad and hard, does happen for a reason. And I also have the comfort of knowing that I will be with her again someday. :)

Thanks again everyone!!

14 years already

Just taking a minute to remember my mom. I can't believe that it's been 14 years today that my mom passed away. Some days it feels like such a long time ago and others it just feels like yesterday. I have been missing her a lot lately and really examining the mother role. I love my role as a mother and am so blessed to be one.

I miss you mom, but know we will be together again someday!

Old school pics I know, but it's what I could find at the time. :)

Mother's Day weekend

It was a pretty quiet event this year and it was perfect. On Saturday night I had a wedding to shoot and Dustin came with me to help me second shoot. For those of you who don't know, he is pretty good with a camera! :) Andy and Nikki babysat for us so it was nice to not have to wonder how the kids were doing. It was a fun night, but we came home exhausted and pretty much just fell into bed!

Sunday morning I opted out of breakfast in bed so that I could sleep in a bit. And besides, I'm not a big breakfast person. Dustin and the kids got me a camera that I can fit in my purse. Yea!! I love me other cameras, but I don't always want or need such a big one to carry around. I think this will be great!

Sunday afternoon we went to visit my mom's grave site. For those of you who may not know, I lost my mom when I was 17 to cancer. I am usually pretty good with this time of year, but yesterday was hard for me. I had a very rough day. I had so many emotions flowing and I'm not sure exactly what triggered them. I think maybe the wedding the night before because it was very emotional at some points. Christian was funny though and helped me to laugh. I told him we were going to visit Grandma and so when we got there he kept asking "is that Grandma?" He will get it someday!! :) Then we just enjoyed a lazy Sunday at home...it was nice.

A PERFECT day at Disneyland

On Tuesday we went to Disneyland. Ryan, Lizeth, Leilani, Greg, Veronica, Chase and Savannah also came along for the fun. This is the most fun we have had there in a while. The company was great, the weather was beautiful (a little hot for me though), the lines were short and the kids were great. I don't think there was one melt down the entire day.

This was also the first time that Christian and his cousin Chase rode the BIG rides. They conquered, the Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain. I went on Thunder and Splash Mountain with him and can I just say how proud I was of him. After each ride was over he was wanting to go again. And can I just say how proud I am of me and Auntie Veronica for going on Splash Mountain...that drop is so not our thing. And at the end of the night the park emptied out rather fast and it was like we had it all to ourselves...just a perfect day!!!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day.
