family vacation- day 5 & 6 {part 5}

On day 5 we geared up to head towards home. We had breakfast with Grandma Carole and said our goodbyes. She apologized again for the cool weather, but we were happy to have it and escape the heat of home. This day was spent on the road. We had decided to make the entire trip home in one day because we wanted to surprise the kids with a bang on day 6. Let's just say that parts of the drive were VERY long. :)

We did try and see a few sights on our way back home. We wanted to see where Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch was. It was literally 5 minutes from where we stayed in Solvang on day 1. In the middle of nowhere and you would never suspect anything spectacular out there. This was all we could see...nothing. The house is miles back in the hills. The gates are still guarded though, but I did notice that these gates are different than previous images I have seen of them.
You could still see fan's writing on the walls and lamps.
We also tried to see Oprah's home, but you also couldn't see anything. It was also far back from the street and the street was too busy to try and stop on. We finally got to our hotel about 6pm after our poor timing and hitting LA rush hour traffic. Not fun!! Also, not fun was our hotel...it was awful. They gave us a one room suite and said no others were available, there were no roll away beds available either. I tried to order Chloe a crib, but she was way too big. We all crammed into a queen and you can only guess how that went.

The next day we surprised the kids with Disneyland. They were so excited. It had been a few months since we had been so we decided to get our passes again. It's so funny to think that our kids think Disneyland is the norm since they have been going since they were born. We know they are spoiled in this way, but it's a good way. :)We didn't actually take a lot of pictures this day, but not to worry...we have a lot more trips to the Happiest Place on Earth to share.

You are so funny. Awesome. We lived in Santa Maria for so long and I knew MJ had his house there, but we could never find it. You rock. I can see why we could never find it!:) I hear you with those LONG drives. Sometimes a drive to Wal-Mart can seem like forever if kids aren't happy!!
