what's your secret???

So I was washing up for bed right now and was completely fed up as I washed my face. When will my face ever stop breaking out like a teenager? Umm...never I think and this humidity doesn't help either!! So I think I need a new skin care routine.

So that got me thinking. I wonder what some things are that other people might try. So I want to know your beauty secrets!! What are some things that you just LOVE and couldn't do without? Or maybe have tried only a few times, but love.

For example I love OPI nail polish. It stays on forever and comes in yummy colors. Also I always use Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. So old school, but my mom always used it and I love how it's not greasy. I have to have my Estee Lauder double wear foundation. I haven't found any others that compare. Too bad I don't work for them anymore so I can still get my discount! :) And if you know of a good face cleanser that will actually get my foundation off then please tell me.

I can't wait to hear all your fun secrets.

Oh and January, can you please tell me more about the raw honey? Thanks!!

Love love love the new design scheme. No beauty secrets here, sorry. One thing I've let go of since hooking a man and having kids :) J/K I wish I knew how to put on a good face. I have never even used foundation. I always have my lipstick on but if I get to the eye liner and shadow (which I have really been making an effort to do) then its a good day.

I love the new blog layout too! How do you change your theme w/o having to redo all your page elements and links?

OK, I use Really Raw honey (that is the brand I like, but I've used other raw honeys too) to wash my face. That's it. Honey has stuff in it that kills bacteria, etc. If I ever do buy something, I get Oil of Olay! Funny, huh? Or Burt's Bees. As a moisturizer and lotion in this house all we use is coconut oil. It's the best oil to cook w/too by the way! The organic extra virgin is the best, but with our (non existent) budget I get the cheap stuff at Walmart. Yes, it goes on greasy, but soaks up right away. I put it all over! If you break out a lot, maybe that won't work. I don't know.

I LOVE the humidity for my skin, actually! We look younger living in the humidity than dry AZ.

I love these things because a)they are all natural...no perservatives, ingredients I can't pronounce and have no idea what they are b) safe for my kids c) cheap b/c they can't be patented and marketed!

If I do wear make up, I put on a cheap powder, mascara and lipgloss. Brandon thinks I look better w/o make up believe it or not!

Why was this so long?! LOL

I don't have the best skin and I seem to break out when I eat chocolate so I stay away from it when I can. I also have really dry hands and allot of the lotions I would use would make my hands sting. My sister in law told me that she uses Johnson & Johnsons Purpose. There is a face wash in liquid and a bar and aslo a moisture lotion which has sunscreen in it. I started using it and it doesn't bother my hands so I use it on my arms as well.

Ha Ha...no seriously...remember when we were in high school and we tried everything under the sun to keep our faces clear???? I remember our Buff Puff phase...ouch..those things could take rust off a car.

But, I do use the same exact moisturizer that I did in high school. Not sure if its such a great idea since I'm 30 and am going to need something to prevent wrinkles soon, but its Johnson & Johnsons Clean and Clear Acne fighting facial moisturizer. Its enough moisturizing to leave your skin soft, but not so much that its like a grease pit on your face, kwim? Also...its cheap...like $5.00 or something.
I also just use Dove soap on my face still. Nothing else works as good for me...and I agree that few things out there take off foundation well.
I agree with January on the raw honey...but I use it on cuts and scrapes and stuff beause it doesnt sting and is natural. Also I agree about the coconut oil. I rub it all over me...the only thing about it is you start smelling like a STRIPPER!!! LOL!!!!!
My mom told me that I would appreciate my oily skin when I got older because I would get less wrinkles and probably not get stretch marks when pg...she was right about the stretch marks.

Good luck hun!!!!

Good luck hun!!!

Great Post! I am really bad when it comes to taking care of my face most nights I just go to bed wit my makeup on. I usually just wash it off in the shower in the morning. I can't wait to hear what others say.

Oh, you know that Laniloh (sp?) nipple cream for when you are breastfeeding? Perfect for chapped lips. Not kidding. When Tatum and I get chapped lips and NOTHING else will do, slap some of that on your smackers and man, it's awesome.

Another trick for babies...olive oil for diaper rash. It's the only thing we've used. It takes care of it right away!

Hey Jen, what kind of coconut oil do you get? I've used a couple kinds. If you just get the oil (not lotions) they don't smell too much, but if it still smells too much, you can use the regular kind (not the extra virgin) and it won't smell b/c it's not the first press like the E.V. stuff! I love it all! And you ARE LUCKY about the stretch marks mama!

Love the diaper rash advice. Chloe actually has a rash right now so i'm gonna try that. Also where do you buy the honey and oil?

Whole Foods, Sprouts, Trader Joe's are places I would start!

Poor Chloe! It works great b/c it's slick so nothing sticks on and it's healing. Also, nothing unnatural is getting in there, ya know?!

january...i use Parachute Coconut Oil...i get it at the co-op here. I'm pretty sure you can use it for cooking, but its in the natural skin-care section at the co-op. It has a slight coconut smell to it...anything that smells like coconut makes me think of strippers!!!! LOL!!!!

If I use anything but ACNE FREE...I break out like crazy! It has the 3 step system like ProActive plus I use the "terminator" cream to zap my pimples! I have tried other things but I keep going back to Acne Free! I also LOVE the PURPOSE brand of facial moisturizer!

Oh! And I was thinking about this today. I bought a tin of Bag Balm when Addie was born and I am still using the same container! It works wonders...and is great as lip gloss...if you can handle and smell!

Don't spend too much time stressing the breakouts...they'll go away...but you are a natural beauty...that's something to be greatful for!
